SACRAMENTO COUNTY – A man was rescued by a neighbor from a house fire in the Gold River community late Thursday night, escaping with his life. Metro Fire of Sacramento promptly responded to the scene on Silver Cliff Way, near Highway 50, around 10 p.m. The man, who had been asleep inside the house, was alerted by the smoke alarms and managed to climb onto the roof to flee from the fire and smoke, where a neighbor’s quick thinking and assistance ensured his safe descent to the ground. The situation was perilous, and had it not been for the functioning smoke alarms, the outcome could have been tragic.
