Arrest of Foodie Menon for Blackmail and Extortion
Thrissur East police have arrested Jayashankar Menon, also known as Foodie Menon, on charges of allegedly blackmailing a woman doctor and extorting money and gold from her. He was arrested based on a complaint filed by a Thrissur-based doctor.
Details of the Allegations
The complaint stated that Jayashankar threatened the doctor, saying he would post selfies of her with him on Instagram. He coerced her into paying Rs 7.61 lakhs between January 1 and December 30, 2023, through Google Pay and forced her to transfer money to his bank account. Additionally, he withdrew money using her card and took 30 sovereigns of gold from her.
Legal Action Taken
As a result of the complaint, the police filed an FIR on May 12, and Jayashankar has been charged with criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal intimidation.
