Police are currently investigating a brazen jewelry heist that took place in Jersey City at the Hudson Mall around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The owner of the jewelry kiosk, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted the harrowing experience to News 12. He mentioned being on his lunch break inside the kiosk when an individual suddenly smashed the display case and made off with a significant amount of gold necklaces.
“I saw this guy checking around so I didn’t pay any attention because I didn’t know what he was going to do. Then suddenly, he just grabbed a rock from his pocket and smashed the glass,” the owner shared.
The stolen merchandise is estimated to have a value ranging from $12,000 to $15,000, adding to the severity of the crime.

The jewelry kiosk was equipped with several surveillance cameras that managed to capture the entire incident. Authorities are now analyzing the footage in hopes of identifying the perpetrator.
