Similarly, the women’s team defeated Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5 to claim the championship title.
Indian men had previously won two bronze medals in 2014 and 2022, while Indian women had secured a bronze in the 2022 edition in Chennai.
Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi played crucial roles in securing India’s first open category title, with impressive performances in key games.
In the match against Slovenia, Gukesh demonstrated exceptional skills with a strategic display, winning against Vladimir Fedoseev with precise gameplay.
