FIRST ON FOX: A group of House Republicans are proposing to award former President Trump the Congressional Gold Medal.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is spearheading a Congressional resolution to grant the honor to Trump “in acknowledgment of his exceptional leadership and dedication to strengthening America’s diplomatic relations during his presidency,” as per legislative text obtained by Fox News Digital.
House Republicans’ Push for Recognition
This initiative is supported by six other House Republicans, including House GOP Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania, and Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Randy Weber of Texas, and Mike Waltz of Florida.

“President Trump’s courageous leadership reestablished America as a respected and admired global power,” Luna stated to Fox News Digital. “It is essential that we acknowledge a president who prioritized our country and achieved global peace through decisive diplomatic actions.”
Support for the Resolution
Additionally, the resolution has the support of House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good, R-Va., who previously had a strained relationship with Trump’s inner circle.

Good initially favored Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the presidency, but shifted his support to Trump after DeSantis withdrew from the race. He is now a staunch advocate for Trump’s potential re-election.
Praising Trump’s Achievements
Expressing their admiration, Ogles lauded Trump’s “contributions to the American heritage and unwavering defense of the American way of life,” while Weber emphasized that “every patriotic American recognizes our country was undoubtedly better off under his guidance four years ago.”
Despite the unlikelihood of the Democrat-controlled Senate taking up the bill, this move underscores Trump’s continued influence within the GOP.
The Congressional Gold Medal, alongside the Presidential Medal of Freedom, stands as one of the highest civilian honors in the country.
