Japan to Issue Commemorative Coins for 2025 World Expo
Japan’s Finance Ministry has announced plans to issue commemorative 10,000 yen ($70) gold coins for the upcoming 2025 World Expo in Osaka. These special coins will come with a price tag of 268,000 yen each, reflecting the current high cost of the precious metal.
In addition to the gold coins, the minting will also include 1,000 yen silver coins, priced at 15,200 yen each, and 500 yen coins. The commemorative 10,000 yen coin will feature an image of the Expo’s official character Myaku-Myaku and the Japan Pavilion, while the 1,000 yen coin will showcase the character alongside a rainbow. Both coins will be available for purchase.
Limited Sets and Lottery
Japan Mint has revealed plans to sell limited sets that include all five coins from the three installments for 344,000 yen. These sets will be available for order starting next March, with only 1,000 sets being offered. In the event that the number of orders exceeds the available sets, a lottery will be held to determine the lucky recipients.
