Chennai: A 33-year-old woman, who works at the Tiruvallur collectorate, experienced a frightening incident where she lost a five sovereign gold chain valued at approximately ₹2.5 lakh near Avadi. The culprit snatched the chain at knifepoint inside an EMU train and quickly fled the scene.

Police provided details that the woman, A Gayathri, along with her two-year-old son, had boarded the women’s compartment. Upon reaching Annanur railway station, they were the only occupants in the compartment. As the train was preparing to depart, the robber boarded, brandished a knife, and demanded her jewelry. In the intimidating situation, the robber forcefully took her gold chain and hastily exited the train with the stolen valuables. Police promptly filed a case and initiated a search for the suspect.
