Area 10 River City Special Olympians Excel at Keesler Air Force Base
Our own Area 10 River City Special Olympians displayed exceptional talent and dedication as they competed and achieved success at the competition held at Keesler Air Force Base on the Mississippi Coast over the weekend.
A team from the greater Vicksburg Warren County area, accompanied by their support staff, made the journey to the Mississippi Coast for the annual games where they showcased their skills. Local coach Rick Daughtry received recognition as the Coach of the Year during the event, highlighting the team’s coaching excellence.
The Olympians from our community clinched an impressive total of 27 Gold medals, 28 Silver medals, 17 Bronze medals, and achieved four 4th place finishes, affirming their prowess and determination in their respective events.
After the intense competition concluded, the athletes unwound and enjoyed the scenic surroundings by having a lively dance party in the evening. Today, they will be making their way back home, carrying with them the pride of their accomplishments and the memories of a memorable experience at the Mississippi Coast.
