Gold Bowl Stolen from Tokyo Department Store
A valuable gold bowl, priced at about 10 million yen ($65,000), was reported stolen from a Tokyo department store on Thursday. The incident took place at a gold exhibition on the eighth floor of Takashimaya department store’s Nihombashi branch.
Theft Discovery and Reporting
The theft was discovered when a store staff member noticed the bowl missing from its display around noon. The staff member promptly reported the incident to the police approximately 15 minutes later.
Lack of Security Measures
Surprisingly, the gold bowl was displayed under a clear plastic case that was not secured with a lock, making it an easy target for theft.
Suspect Description
Security footage revealed a man in his 20s to 30s taking the bowl and placing it into his backpack at around 11:40 a.m. The suspect, described as wearing glasses and a sweatshirt, is currently being sought by the authorities.
