PALO ALTO — A $1,000 gold necklace was stolen from an elderly woman over the weekend by two alleged thieves, as reported by the police.
Incident Details
The victim, in her 80s, was walking with her husband on Saturday afternoon on Cowper Street when a man and a woman approached them in a vehicle, asking for directions to the freeway. After receiving help from the victim, the woman thanked her by placing a ring on her finger and a necklace around her neck. It was later discovered that the woman had swapped the victim’s gold necklace without her realizing it. Fortunately, neither the victim nor her husband were harmed during the incident.
Suspect Description
The victim described the suspects as “Middle Eastern” and between 50 and 60 years old. The woman was described as “heavy-set” and wearing a black head covering, while the man had a black beard and was wearing a baseball cap and white shirt. The only other detail remembered was that they were driving a light-colored sedan.
