Reno Arch to Shine Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation recently announced that the iconic Reno Arch will be lit up in gold throughout the month of September to support their Know the Gold campaign.
September is recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the lighting of the Reno Arch symbolizes solidarity with children fighting cancer.
Luminous Festivities
The festivities will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on August 29 and will continue until 8:00 p.m. The highlight of the event will be the arch lighting ceremony scheduled for 7:30 p.m., which is open to the public.
Notable attendees at the ceremony include the Reno Fire Department, Mayor Hilary Schieve, Sheriff Balaam, and special guest Kathleen Taylor. Additionally, the University of Nevada, Reno cheerleading squad will be present to show their support.
Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere with a countdown and celebration, music from a DJ, and delicious offerings from food trucks.
Know the Gold Campaign Details
The Know the Gold campaign will run from September 1 through February 13, 2025. During this period, all donations made to the campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the William N. Pennington Foundation, up to $775,000.
All funds raised through this initiative will directly benefit local children battling cancer, with the assurance that all support remains within Northern Nevada.
For further information about the event or the campaign, individuals can reach out to the NNCCF at (775) 825-0888 or visit their website.
Childhood cancer awareness is an important cause that deserves widespread attention and support. By illuminating the Reno Arch in gold, the NNCCF and its partners are not only raising awareness but also fostering a sense of community involvement in the fight against pediatric cancer.
