The final day of the Olympic basketball competition in France witnessed a fierce 40-minute battle between the two teams. Starting off tied at 25-25 at halftime, France took an early lead in the third quarter with a 10-point advantage. However, the United States quickly responded with a 20-8 run to take a lead of 45-43 into the final quarter.
