Investigation into Robbery After Leaving Fox Point Bar
Police in Providence, R.I. are currently investigating a robbery that occurred shortly after a man left a Fox Point bar over the weekend. The victim and his girlfriend were targeted by a suspect while walking back to their car from a bar off of Bridge Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to a police report obtained by 12 News, the suspect attacked the victim and forcibly tried to steal the gold chain around his neck. Eventually, the suspect brandished a firearm and used it to threaten the couple before fleeing with the stolen chain. Thankfully, neither the victim nor his girlfriend sustained any injuries during the ordeal.
Surveillance Footage and Suspect Description
Authorities revealed that a nearby bar was able to capture the suspect on surveillance footage as he followed the couple closely down the street leading up to the incident. The suspect is described as a black man, around 6 feet tall with a medium build, and was reportedly wearing a black hoodie and white sneakers at the time of the robbery.
The victim informed police that his stolen necklace was a 10 karat gold Cuban link chain valued at approximately $3,800. Anyone with information related to the robbery is urged to contact the Providence Police Department at (401) 272-3121.
