Thane, Maharashtra:
The Navi Mumbai police have arrested two persons on the charge of dacoity after a woman was robbed of nearly Rs 28 lakh after being promised gold at a “cheap and discounted” rate, an official said today.
Details of the Incident
In her complaint, the 36-year-old Nerul resident stated that one of the arrested persons had contacted her, claiming he could provide her with half a kilo of gold for Rs 27.81 lakh, significantly lower than the market price.
The woman was taken by the man to Sanpada station in a car for the transaction on May 18. However, upon arrival, some individuals threatened her and forcibly snatched her bag containing the money.
Arrests and Investigation
The man and another individual who had accompanied them in the car managed to flee the scene. Following various leads, the police apprehended Thane residents Rakesh Shivaji Shingte (39), the individual in contact with the woman, and Roopesh Subash Sapkale (42). Authorities are currently working to apprehend the remaining suspects,
