Paterson Pine Secures Bronze with a Strong Finish
In the thrilling third end of the archery competition, Paterson Pine took the lead and managed to stay ahead. As the tension mounted, she knew she needed a ten to clinch the bronze medal or a nine to force a tie with her final shot. Unfortunately, she shot an eight, putting the pressure on her teammate, Phoebe Grinham.
As Grinham reflected on the importance of the final arrow in archery, she emphasized, “The match is not over until the last arrow is shot.” Despite the setback, Grinham rose to the occasion by delivering two perfect 10s to finish the match strong.
Heading into the last end, Grinham was aware of the precision required to secure a medal. She knew that only 10s would suffice, and she was able to execute flawlessly. By putting the pressure on her teammate, Grinham was able to secure the bronze medal, marking her first individual Paralympic medal.
While Grinham is set to embark on a new chapter as a mother, she made it clear that she has her sights set on competing at the next Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. Her determination and skill on the archery field are sure to make her a contender for future medals.
