Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles, known as the world’s fastest man, expressed his willingness to race against Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, but only if the race is 100 meters and meets certain conditions he laid out.
Noah Lyles Responds to Tyreek Hill’s Challenge
Lyles, the Olympic 100 meters champion, and Hill have engaged in a back-and-forth rivalry recently after Hill claimed he could beat Lyles in a 50-yard dash.
In an interview with NBC News, Lyles stated, “But it has to be legit. I’m not here to do gimmicks. You’re racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man,’ and you’ve worked to be a great football player. You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player.”
Potential Race Controversy
Lyles emphasized the importance of running the full 100 meters and dismissed the idea of competing at a shorter distance, such as 50 yards or 40 yards. While he remains confident in his abilities, Lyles emphasized the need for a fair and official race.
Looking ahead to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Lyles expressed his excitement at the prospect of competing on home soil and aiming to achieve the sprinting double once again.
Lyles’ Sportsmanship and Controversies
Aside from his athletic achievements, Lyles has sparked debates in other sports circles, including questioning the world champion title in basketball and causing a stir among basketball fans with his comments about NBA MVP Nikola Jokić.
Despite his success in sprinting, Lyles revealed that if track and field hadn’t been an option, he would have pursued a career in soccer due to his love for various sports and his adaptability on the field.
