Menendez’s Lawyer Begins Defense in Corruption Trial
Senator Bob Menendez’s lawyer kicked off the defense in a Manhattan courtroom by asserting that the New Jersey Democrat did not participate in an international bribery scheme as alleged by federal prosecutors. The defense maintained that there were innocent explanations for the alleged crimes that have caused turmoil in Menendez’s political career.
