A significant seizure of gold bullion worth €1.4m (£1.2m), €460,000 (£384,000) in cash, and €210,000 (£175,000) in suspected cocaine has been made following a two-day search operation in the Republic of Ireland.
The Irish police, known as the gardaí, have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with the findings and he is currently in custody. The search operation was carried out in residential and business premises in the Dublin area over the course of Thursday and Friday.
Authorities have taken the suspected cocaine for further analysis to determine its purity and quantity.
Chief Superintendent Garrett Billings commended the diligent work of the An Garda Síochána in making this significant seizure. He stated, “This operation, led by the Dublin Crime Response Team, demonstrates our commitment to targeting and disrupting criminal activities that pose a threat to our communities.
“By confiscating such a large quantity of valuable items and suspected drugs, we aim to bring those responsible to justice and enhance the safety and well-being of our society.”
