This comes after sanctions were imposed on the Mohameds and all business ties with them were suspended.

The government is taking steps to address the issue by involving key officials such as the Minister of Finance, the head of the Guyana Revenue Authority, the Commissioner General, the head of the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Guyana Gold Board.
