Calgary, Alberta–(Newsfile Corp. – May 10, 2024) – Showcase Minerals Inc. (CSE: SHOW) (FSE: ZJ0) (“Showcase” or the “Company”) is excited to announce an update on its drill program at the Dixie Flats – North Star Gold Project in Elko County, Nevada. The Company mobilized a reverse-circulation drill on April 24 and drilling commenced on April 25. The drill operations are overseen by geologist Jason Babcock, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the project.
### Objectives of the Drill Program
The primary goal of the first hole (DF24-01) was to penetrate the NNE oriented S-Fault near the Devils Gate-Webb contact to assess potential mineralization extensions from a nearby mineralized hole (DX-5) along the S-Fault. Additionally, the Company aimed to test the S-Fault at the Webb Devils Gate contact. The lithologies encountered thus far include overburden, Chainman Formation sandstone and siltstone, and Webb Formation carbonaceous and pyritic mudstone with minor siltstone. Showcase intends to drill further to the Webb-Devils Gate contact to investigate this untested contact thoroughly.
### Factors Affecting Drill Progress
Several factors have influenced the drill rate, including the deeper-than-modeled depth of the Webb Formation-Devils Gate Limestone contact, encountering significant water volumes that impede progress, and time limitations during the sage-grouse breeding season, which restrict the daily drill schedule to 12 hours.
### Planned Drill Holes
The second hole in Showcase’s program is situated to the west of DF24-01 in the S-Fault footwall. The third hole being considered aims to test the S-Fault at a higher elevation and nearly perpendicular to the fault orientation.
### Additional Insight
The close proximity of the Emigrant Springs Mine and the Rain Mine deposits to the Webb mudstone and Devils Gate limestone contact point is a promising sign for Showcase’s exploration efforts. These structures align with Orla Mining Ltd.’s Dark Star Gold Deposit, hinting at the potential for valuable discoveries in the area.
### About the Dixie Flats- North Star Gold Project
The Dixie Flats – North Star Gold Project is strategically located in northeast Nevada, within the Carlin Trend known for its significant gold deposits. Showcase’s exploration of this property seeks to uncover valuable mineralization akin to nearby successful mining operations at Emigrant Springs Mine and Rain Mine.
### Conclusion
Showcase Minerals Inc.’s diligent exploration efforts at the Dixie Flats – North Star Gold Project hold promise for potential mineral discoveries, given the geological context and proximity to established mining sites in the Carlin Trend region. Investors keen on gold exploration opportunities should keep an eye on Showcase’s progress in Nevada.
