Bengaluru couple accidentally immerses Ganesh idol with 4 lakh gold chain, recovered: Report

As per a report in The Times of India, Ramaiah and Umadevi, who are teachers at Bengaluru’s Govindarajanagar, placed a Ganesh idol at their house for the festival. They adorned the idol with a 60-gram gold chain and unintentionally left it on the idol when they handed it over to a mobile tank for immersion.

Upon realizing their mistake, the couple promptly informed the authorities about the missing gold chain. Despite initial difficulties in locating the ornament due to the large amount of clay dissolved from multiple idols, they did not give up hope.

After informing the Magadi police station and seeking assistance from the local MLA, a thorough search ensued, lasting 10 hours. The contractor operating the mobile tank deployed his staff to search for the chain and even pumped out 10,000 liters of water from the tank to aid the search.

The efforts paid off when the gold chain was eventually found by a group of individuals sifting through the tank’s contents. The contractor mentioned, “More than 300 idols were immersed in the mobile tank, so a huge amount of mud was piled up inside the tank. However, in the morning, my staff found the chain, and we informed the couple. They later collected it from us.”
