Robbers Cut off Woman’s Ear to Steal Gold Stud
A 60-year-old woman in Dhabasa village, Vadodara’s Padra taluka, fell victim to robbers who went to extreme lengths to steal a gold stud she was wearing. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday and has caused widespread outrage in the area.
Police Response and Investigation
The Vadodara district police have mobilized several teams to track down the accused involved in the brutal attack on Madhu Solanki. Solanki is currently undergoing treatment at SSG Hospital for her injuries. The police have started examining CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the perpetrators and are also looking into the criminal records of individuals with similar modus operandi.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place around 2 am on Saturday when Solanki was asleep in her home. The robbers forcefully entered her room, attempted to strangle her, and proceeded to steal her gold ornaments. In her statement to the police, Solanki revealed that the robbers took away 40 gm of gold ornaments valued at Rs 2 lakh, including six gold ear piercings and two earrings. When they encountered difficulty in removing the earring from her right ear, they resorted to cutting off her outer ear before escaping through the window.
Legal Action and Charges
The accused have been charged under sections 394, 397, 450, and 114 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act, which include offenses related to robbery, causing grievous hurt, house trespass, and crimes committed in the presence of an abettor.
