The 51st edition of the Bloomington Gold Corvette show wrapped up with a bang. Taking place on June 21st and 22nd at Illinois State University in Normal, IL, this year’s event featured two full days of Corvettes, sunshine, and camaraderie among car enthusiasts.
Certification Judging and Notable Highlights
The highlight of Bloomington Gold each year is the Certification judging, which saw around 50 cars vying for Survivor, Gold, and Benchmark honors based on their original factory specifications. From vintage models dating back to 1954 to more recent ones from 2019, the show featured an array of iconic Corvettes. Notable mentions included big block 1967s, 1963 SW coupes, C2s, LT-1 cars, a rare L89, a low-mileage 1978 pace car, and various late-model editions like the ZR1 and GT1 versions.
Engaging Sessions and Road Tour
Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in informative seminars covering topics like modern Corvette modifications and the history of special Corvette editions like the L88. The weekend wrapped up with a traditional road tour led by Mike Yager in a rare C4 Corvette, offering enthusiasts a chance to experience these classic cars in action on the open road.
Exploring the Goldmine and Vendors
For those looking to purchase their next Corvette, the Goldmine presented a selection of cars, while local dealers on-site offered a variety of options. The swap meet area also provided a hunting ground for hidden treasures for car restoration projects. Vendors at the event offered everything from Corvette-themed merchandise to vintage literature for enthusiasts to browse and buy.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Bloomington Gold 2024 showcased some of the rarest and most unique Corvettes, capturing the hearts of car enthusiasts. With anticipation building, attendees are already looking forward to the 2025 event to see what new and exciting vehicles will make an appearance.
